Come take a ride with us on the Virginia Creeper Trail, we took about 4 hours to do about 18 miles, we stopped often to enjoy the beauty along the way.

So glad spring is here. Alice and I had a great hike this weekend. Travel has slowed down for a while, but fun outdoors will continue. The trail head for this hike is practically across the road from where Alice’s Dad was born and lived as a little boy in what was then a remote part of Polk County NC. Just wanted to update everyone on our travels since our last post and share a few pictures. We left Wyoming the second week of September, we had almost a month with family in SC, it was great to spend time with Sara. Other highlights were Stephanie’s wedding, hiking the AT with Sunny and spending time with family. Last week we moved to the Charlotte area for the next work assignment. After arriving we visited Mike and Karen in Roanoke and then spent some time on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Fun week with Derrick, Sunny and Sara in Yellowstone and the Tetons

We had a great time with our kids on this forth and final visit to Yellowstone this summer. This was also our third visit to the Grand Tetons this summer. Wyoming and Montana have been a lot of fun and then to have Chris and Sara come last month and now Sunny, Derrick and little Sara this month is just the icing on the cake.

Sara of course was the star of this visit, she has changed so much since we last saw her in April. Grandma got carried away taking pictures of her as you can see at the following link.

Glacier National Park

We had a great time celebrating 32 years together by spending a week in Glacier National Park. We slept in our tent in the park for 6 nights and then stayed at a wonderful B & B in Butte MT on the way home. www.toadhallmanor.com

We were thrilled to have our son and his wife visit us in Wyoming, we tried to show them all of Yellowstone and the Tetons but we ran out of time. It was nice to spend time with them and share the beauty of the area that we are enjoying this summer. This is our July 2010 visit to Yellowstone and the Tetons. We are trying to go each month just to see how the beauty changes with the seasons.

On this stretch off over the 4th of July, Alice and I have enjoyed a few firsts. First hiking in the Cloud Peak Wilderness, first backpacking camping trip, first rodeo and a trip to a ghost town.

For Alice’s Birthday we made a cirlce past Custer’s last stand to the northeast end of the Bighorn Canyon Recreation Area and then relaxed in Billings before coming back to the southwest end of the canyon and home.

Then after another stretch of work we went to the Grand Teton National Park for six nights. We had a couple of forced days of relaxation because of rain but managed to get out and enjoy the beauty as well.
